Markdale Financial Management is a family office serving wealthy investors. We’re looking for a part-time Junior Data Analyst for a 12 week paid internship. As a Junior Data Analyst, you’ll gain valuable experience creating business intelligence dashboards that are used to manage investment portfolios. This position is most suitable for a current undergrad studying business administration at an Ontario University looking to jumpstart their career as an investment professional. However, students enrolled in any undergraduate program may apply.
Your Qualifications
- currently an undergrad attending an Ontario University
- demonstrate a proficiency with Excel and PowerBI
- comfortable using the Power Query Editor, writing DAX expressions, and using Excel Macros.
- passionate about finance & investing
This is a part-time position (10 to 20 hours per week) most suitable for an undergrad currently enrolled at an Ontario university studying business, however candidates studying alternative programs are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must demonstrate their ability to use Excel & PowerBI by completing a short “challenge task” that will be assigned upon application.
Candidates must be interested in managing investment portfolios as the successful applicant will be creating the financial reporting systems that support our investments.

As a Junior Data Analyst, you’ll work with James Dunne to outline the scope of your work, create a timeline for development, and to review your progress. You’ll be responsible for creating financial dashboards using PowerBI to visualize our investment portfolio metrics. To do this, you’ll need to gather, scrub, configure, and then analyze financial data from a variety of sources in various formats using Power Query Editor, writing DAX expressions using PowerBI, and running macros within Excel. This is a remote position, meetings will be conducted via Zoom.
